Adding and managing projects

Create projects, edit details, customize phases, and what each status means.

Creating a project

Click + Add Project from the dashboard, Projects list, or via the keyboard shortcut. You'll see the new-project modal.

  • Template — picks the starting phases + steps. You can customize them per-client after creation. Standard MSP is the safest default if unsure.
  • Company name + Industry — visible to the client in their portal hero.
  • Primary contact — name and email of who you'll talk to. Email is required if you want to send a portal invite.
  • Status — start with new; flip to active when you kick off, blocked if waiting on the client, completed when done.

Editing a client

On the client's Overview tab, click Edit next to Client Details. You can change name, industry, contact info, target days, contract value, and internal notes here. Branding and logo live in the Project Branding card on the right side.

Customizing phases + steps

Go to the Journey tab. Each phase can be edited inline — change the name, add steps, mark steps as client-facing (visible in the portal) or partner-only (hidden), set due dates, and add notes.

Statuses explained

  • new — just created, kickoff not yet started
  • active — onboarding in progress
  • blocked — waiting on the client; surfaces a red banner on the dashboard
  • paused — temporarily on hold, won't appear in "needs attention"
  • completed — done, archived from the Runway
